While some might feel like this is an extreme solution, it can definitely make you and your family safer in case of a home invasion. If you do consider installing one of these, however, you need to make sure that it is done right or it will not serve its purpose.
The first thing to consider is location. You want the safe room to be easily accessible without having to cross the path of a potential intruder. You also should make sure that the place where it is installed has adequate support for the weight that a safe room adds. This can be quite significant.
There should also be a means of communication with police, a water-source and food available for you in case you will be stuck in the room longer than expected.
