If you ever had to deal with a woodpecker that keeps attacking your home, then you probably know how annoying it can be. Woodpeckers are protected, and because of this, your options for dealing with them are limited. You could of course try to block off the area where it is trying to dig in, but this is often unsightly and not very effective against a determined woodpecker. A better option is to try to figure out what it is coming there for.

Most likely, the woodpecker is looking for food, and if it is thinking that it can find it in your walls, that is a good indicator that there are wood-boring insects inside of the walls. Dealing with the insect problem can very well solve your woodpecker problem. Since woodpeckers have excellent hearing and sight, they can notice signs of an infestation from far away, so you should trust their instincts.
