Where does your water come from? In many places it could be coming from the public water system, but for some it comes from a private well. Many who have a well feel like their water is better than that in the public system since it hasn’t been treated with the same amount of chemicals and run through the same large, complicated system. However, is this really the case?

Unfortunately, there is no way to know for sure unless you have the water tested. It would be a wise choice, since your and your family’s health depend on clean drinking water.

You need to make sure that your well is protected. It should be at least 50 feet away from your septic tank, and grading should be done in such a way that rainwater flows away from it. If not, rain could bring harmful chemicals into your well.
